ITC'S "BOEING BOEING" TAKES OFF ON
MARCH 4
The Illinois Theatre Center plans to warm up the late
weeks of winter with the fast-moving farce BOEING BOEING by Marc
Camoletti. This
international hit runs from March 4 to March 20 at the theatre in
Downtown Park Forest.
Set in the swinging 1960's, BOEING BOEING follows the
exploits of Bernard, an architect living in Paris.
By carefully studying the various airline flight schedules, he
has managed to conduct affairs with three "air hostesses" - the American
Janet, the French Jacqueline and the German Judith.
When the introduction of a new, faster aircraft threatens to ruin
his system, Bernard has to enlist the help of his long-suffering maid,
Bertha and his friend Robert, to keep the three girls from showing up at
the apartment at the same time.
Since premiering in Paris in 1960, BOEING BOEING
has proved a true world-wide hit, earning a mention in the Guinness Book
of World Records as the most performed French play of the 20th Century.
There have been 4 feature film adaptations, including a French
version, an American version starring Tony Curtis and Jerry Lewis, and
two Indian versions, as well as TV versions in Dutch, Norwegian and
German. The 2008 Broadway
revival earned the Tony Award for Best Revival of a Play.
ITC's production, directed by David Boettcher,
features Martin Yurek (last seen at ITC in MOONLIGHT AND MAGNOLIAS) as
Bernard, and Joe Lehman (most recently seen as the mad strangler in NO
WAY TO TREAT A LADY) as Robert.
Jean Roberts (seen earlier this season in ANNA CHRISTIE) is
Bertha. Angela Beyer, who appeared in last season's A SHAYNA MAIDEL, is
Judith, with Mary K. Nigohosian as Janet and Katherine Dell Cikanek as
Jacqueline, both making their ITC Mainstage debuts.
BOEING BOEING runs Friday, March 4 through Sunday,
March 20. Performances are
Wednesday thru Saturday evenings at 8 PM, and Sundays at 2:30 & 7:30 PM.
Tickets are priced at $22 on Fri. & Sat. and $20 all other times.
There is a $1 discount for students and seniors.
The Illinois Theatre Center is located at 371 Artists Walk in
Downtown Park Forest (off Indianwood Blvd., adjacent to Village Hall).
