In New York City in 1905,
Esther, a black seamstress sews “intimate apparel” for clients ranging

who made her ITC debut last season in CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY,
portrays Esther.
Sandy Adell, previously seen
here in STY OF THE BLIND PIG, portrays the landlord, Mrs. Dickson.

the Jewish fabric salesman.

immigrant from
Barbados.

Calliope Porter is Mrs Van Buren, the young wife of a wealthy older
man.
Variety called INTIMATE
APPAREL, "A poignant commentary on an era when the cut and color
of one’s dress—-and of course, skin—-determined whom one could marry,
sleep with even talk to in public." This
extraordinary play comes from the Pulitzer Prize winning playwright of
RUINED and CRUMBS FROM THE TABLE OF JOY.
