Based on “The Guardsman” by Ferenc Molnar. Our holiday musical
is based on a classic comedy made famous by Lunt and Fontanne. It’s a
romantic romp set backstage in a Viennese theatre, a hundred years ago.
A vain, self-absorbed actor tests his wife’s fidelity by attempting to
seduce her in the guise of a dashing guardsman. VARIETY praised it as
“A sweet, comic chamber piece with an entrancing score... hauntingly
lovely”.
